Thursday: SC Villa v Express

Uganda's top sides SC Villa and Express will renew their rivalry when both sides face-off on Thursday in the final of the Liberation Cup at Nakivubo Stadium.

The four day event that started on Monday with three clubs (Express, SC Villa and Lweza) will be climaxed with the winner walking away with the trophy.

The Liberation Cup tournament has also been vital in strengthening the three sides ahead of the second round of the Azam Uganda Premier League that is slated for February 7th.

In the opening games of the tournament, SC Villa settled for a 2-2 draw with Lweza on Monday before Express defeated Lweza 1-0 in the other game on Tuesday.

SC Villa's stalemate with Lweza was the second match for the Jogoos in three days without a win.

Earlier on Jogoos were eliminated in the round of 64 of the Uganda Cup by Kiboga Young 5-4 on penalties after settling for goalless draw.

Express returns to action with optimism having won their last two games. Before defeating Lweza on Tuesday, the Red Eagles eliminated fellow top side Kirinya Jinja SS 2-1 in the Uganda Cup on Saturday at Wankulukuku Stadium.

Red Eagles' coach Matia Lule will continue to test his new recruits, Sulaiman Jingo and Daniel Otto.

The duo impressed during Express' victory over Lweza and could be given more playing time against SC Villa.
