Aziz Damani's skipper Sarfaraz Chunara has called time on his career with the reigning division two champions, he has told New Vision.

The 32-year-old's departure comes at the time when the moneyed club is gearing for its maiden season in the top division.

Chunara was seen as an integral part in the team's 100 per cent record in division two last season.

"This is it for me with playing for the club," he said.

"I will now relocate to India for my personal businesses but I will remain supporting the club in other ways since I'm one of the founders."

Ghulam Hunzai is likely to take over the reins as captain deputized by Damani's all-rounder Brian Masaba ahead of the new season.

Having started out in 2004, Chunara has played for different Ugandan clubs including Nile, Patidar, KICC, Warriors and Aziz Damani.

Meanwhile the Uganda Cricket Association is yet to confirm the coming weekend as the start of the 2017 season.

"We are set to meet with officials and team captains to decide on whether the league starts at the weekend," said Martin Ondeko, the UCA operations manager.
