Former Presidential Candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye has contributed shs1.5m towards the last funeral rite of the deceased musician Harriet Kisakye, who passed away in April 2015, at International Hospital Kampala (IHK).

According to Junior Matovu, the chief organizer of the Kisakye's last funeral rite, Besigye contributed shs1.5m towards organizing the ritual which will be held in Wakiso district.

"Besigye's contribution was delivered by one of his assistants, Ronald Muhinda, and we thank him for being a lasting friend to the deceased and her family as well," Matovu revealed.

Matovu added that it's so far Besigye alone who has contributed towards the funeral, though several artistes pledged to contribute but they haven't fulfilled their pledges.

"Several musicians pledged to contribute towards the funeral rite of the singer but they haven't responded yet," he added.

Kisakye rose to fame when she released a song called ‘Gyenvudde' which earned her a deal to perform at Besigye's campaign rallies in 2006.

Kisakye died from liver, kidney and lung complications.
