The Kisoro District Police Commander, Charles OKoto, said the ex-combatants were arrested Friday morning while traveling by Omnibus registration number UAW 477K in Kanaba sub-county in Kisoro district.

Okoto said all the arrested will be taken back to Bihanga. He also said they will help security agencies to get all the former rebels who came from Congo, the  Ministry of Internal Affairs will then advise on their fate.

Okoto revealed that Kisoro's security heads will on February 2 hold meeting with their counterparts from Rwanda, later they will meet those of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"We are going to meet the security officials from Rwanda and DR Congo and forge away on how we can jointly fight insecurity along border areas," said Okoto.

Kisoro resident district Commissioner Shafiq Sekandi said security has been tightened and regular Police patrols will help in cracking down any wrong element that may be using Kisoro as a path to DR Congo.

Recently, security officers pointed fingers to the Kisoro LC5 chairman Abel Bizimana that he is causing a lot fear among the public whenever he talks on behalf of security officers.

When asked, however, Bizimana said that security officers are saying he has a long mouth. He said he will continue crying to the Government until insecurity in Kisoro is settled. He accused security officials in the district of failure to highlight the insecurity in the area.
