FUFA first vice president Justus Mugisha received the certificate

FUFA is officially the latest national sports association that National Council of Sports (NCS) has recognized in Uganda Gazette.

FUFA picked its certificate of registration from NCS on Wednesday.

The move brings the total number of recognised federations/association by NCS to 29. Major sports federations not gazetted among the compliant ones include the Uganda Rugby Union and Uganda Cricket Association.

The handover ceremony was presided over by NCS vice chairman technical, Zubair Galiwango, at the NCS boardroom and was witnessed by the assistant general secretary in charge of technical David Katende.

Galiwango handed over the certificate to FUFA first vice president Justus Mugisha flanked by Barnard Ogwel.

Asked whether the certificate confirms that two federations will manage football in Uganda Galiwango, reiterated that it is only FUFA under the administration of Moses Magogo that they recognise.

"We have never issued another certificate to anybody other than this one. We received applications from different people and we looked at all. We found out that FUFA in Mengo outweighed the others" Galiwango said.

He however advised FUFA to build a team and ensure everybody is allowed to build football in Uganda.

The Ministry of Lands had earlier on given a group of ex-international players led by Dan Walusimbi, a certificate of incorporation, but the group has never finished the verification process to receive a certificate of recognition from NCS.

However, the group has on occasion forcefully stormed FUFA headquarters in Mengo in a bid to evict the sitting administration and claim legitimacy.

Mugisha said that FUFA was happy with the certificate because it shows that NCS verified their administration and found it fit to manage football in Uganda.
