Chief Justice Bart Katureebe will swear in the new Electoral Commission (EC) team on Tuesday next week, Judiciary's communications manager, Solomon Muyita, has said.

"They will be sworn in at the High Court on Tuesday morning by the Chief Justice," Muyita told New Vision on Saturday.

The new commissioners to be sworn in are chairman Simon Byabakama, Hajjati Aisha Lubega (deputy chairman), Peter Emorut, Etomaru Nathaline, Steven Tashobya, Mustapha Kigozi and Justin Mugabi.

On December 5, 2016, the appointments committee of parliament approved these people nominated by President Yoweri Museveni on November 18 as members of EC.

However, Mugabi had in September last year been reappointed to a second (seven-year) term and approved by parliament.

The new EC team replaces Dr Badru Kiggundu-led commission that had served for 14 years.
