Kanyamunyu bail application denied

The court has today denied a bail application by Mathew Kanyamunyu and his co-accused in the murder of Kenneth Watmon Akena.

High court Judge, Elizabeth Kabanda rejected the application after hearing submissions from both the defense and prosecution.

The defense team argued that the offence of murder can be heard, tried and is bailable by the High Court.

They also presented Winnie Byanima, Moses Karuhanga, Edith Byanyima and Julius Kanyamunyu, all relatives of the accused to stand as surety.

However, Prosecution led by Samalie Wakhooli opposed the application stating that the accused have no fixed place of abode.
