Namirembe Diocese Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has called upon all Ugandans to pray for Kasese following clashes and the imprisonment of Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere.

Over 100 people are estimated to have died in the standoff between the Rwenzururu and the government which climaxed with the arrest of Mumbere and his prime minister.

In his sermon to the congregation that turned up to celebrate Christmas at St. Paul's Cathedral Namirembe, Luwalira called for dialogue.

"We pray for all those who lost their loved ones in Kasese. It put all of us on tension and we should pray that this should never happen again. The bible says that we are all one body and we should respect that body," said Luwalira.

He said that the different experiences come into our life to help draw as closer to the Lord and also give us an opportunity of listening to him and do his will.

"God has good plans for you. Some of the experiences that we undergo help us draw and understand what his plans towards us are," he said.

He  asked the Christian to thank God and prayed that they use this Christmas to find their purpose of being alive, when their friends and relatives have  gone and successful  work towards to achieve their goals.

"But as you go out, when you are making merry, remember the fact that there is more to live for. Don't over drink and drive and don't do anything that will jeopardize your life. We need to be able to reach 2017 when we are health," he said.
