Coach Micho: “My final squad will be named after the friendly game in Tunisia."

Coach Mulitin ‘Micho' Sredejovic has hinted that he will announce his last Uganda Cranes squad of 23 players to the Africa Nations Cup finals after an international friendly match with Tunisia in Tunis on January 4.

This was at the weekly FUFA press conference on Thursday.

The Serbian tactician expressed satisfaction with the Uganda Cranes preparation, saying that at the moment he is enjoying what he described as a "sweet problem every coach loves to have".

"Every player is in shape, doing their best to make the final 23 who will be in Gabon," said Micho, who guide the national side to the finals of Africa's biggest football tournament for the first time in 39 years.

"My final squad will be named after the friendly game in Tunisia. But I can confidently say any coach will love to face the sweet problem I am facing now. The choice is wide."

He is expected to reduce his squad of 30 in camp at Serene Suits in Mutundwe to 20 players before travelling to Tunisia on December 30. There, the team will be joined by eight professionals and after assessment, a final squad 23 will be announced.

Micho expects Farouk Miya, Luwagga Kizito, Godfrey Kizito and Moses Oloya to join camp before the international friendly match in Tunis January 4.

Denis Onyango, Benjamin Ochan, Geoffrey Massa and Mike Azira are expected in Kampala between Thursday and Christmas Day (December 25).

Meanwhile FUFA, in consultation with Micho, has scrapped off the international friendly match against hosts Gabon on grounds that it is unnecessary.

The Cranes will break for a day's rest on December 24 and return on December 26. The team will fly to Gabon on January 14.
