The Netball Development Trust Christmas tournament in Jinja brought together kids from Uganda and Kenya with the aim of creating friendship amongst them.

The one day tournament which was won by Team Germany involved mixed teams from both Kenya and Uganda.

"We chose to mix the kids up because it helps create different bonds and friendship as opposed to creating teams based on nationality which would have stoked the children's competitive nature," the founder of the Netball Development Trust Monica Thandi said.

She also emphasised that the charity's aim is to introduce netball to the boys and girls in rural communities.

"The Netball Development Trust aims to introduce educational like free sexual and reproductive health programs for boys and girls through netball," she stated.

"We have partnered with a local children's organisation X-SUBA which is based in Jinja Uganda and we have formalised our partnership and now we can teach the kids in the community about reproductive health."

Netball Development Trust in conjunction with X-SUBA and Sport4development sought to give the children a tournament to remember.
