Following their home and dry experiences in the previous campaigns, winning two back to back trophies in the Boys' categories, hosts Uganda are targeting a clean sweep in both the men and women categories.

The Zone V B event which gets underway on Saturday at UCU in Mukono will have Uganda open her campaign against South Sudan in both the Men and Women categories in group B action.

Uganda's men side in the regional contest remains the team to beat having won the trophy in 2014 on home soil though the women's side has shared two final heartbreaks, losing to neighbours Kenya in 2012 and 2014.

"Having secured the hosting rights for the second time running, we are looking at a successful tournament and as of our two teams the expectations are winning in both categories and qualify for the All Africa Championships" said Willy Mayanja, treasurer Uganda Handball Federation.

However Uganda has had a bad taste at the All Africa Championships, having come last in the 2015 edition in Ethiopia.

The Zone V B challenge which will have Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi in group A. Rwanda, South Sudan and hosts Uganda in group B  is funded by the International Handball Federation.
