Police operation nets eight

Mwesigwa said these Juveniles have and are still making people suffer, yet child related organizations say we are trampling on the rights of the children.

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commander has carried out an operation against suspected criminals and arrested eight. Among them was a 14-year-old drug addict.

Fred Wamala, Frank Katende, James Kabiri, Arthur Baguma, Martin Musange, Joseph Kasaga, Brian Kwezi and the 14-year-old boy were arrested for allegedly 'terrorizing' city residents. They were found in possession of marijuana.

The operation was led by KMP commander CP Frank Mwesigwa.

Mwesigwa said the suspects smoke marijuana, robe and rape among other vices.

Mwesigwa said these Juveniles have and are still making people suffer, yet child related organizations say we are trampling on the rights of the children.

He advised such child related organizations to help construct more Juvenile cells; Juvenile prisons because the number of crimes committed by the Juveniles is high yet their cells and prisons like Kampiringisa are over congested.

The seven are detained at CPS Kampala and charged with stealing, being in possession of marijuana,smoking it and frequenting their smoking marijuana hideouts on case file number SD: 40:12/12/2016.
