The women also demanded government to publically announce all the detention centers where the Kasese clash suspects are being held.

Women activists under the umbrella body of 'Women for Uganda' have petitioned the government of Uganda to produce the Kasese clash suspects in courts of law to ensure that justice is accorded to them as provided for in the constitution.

Led by their chairperson Sophie Kyagulanyi in a joint meeting held in the office of the leader of opposition in Parliament, Winnie Kiiza, at Parliament on Saturday evening, she condemned government for not abiding by the rules of law.

"The Uganda Police Force has an obligation to respect the rule of law and the Judiciary as an institution of justice. The law requires suspects to be charged within 48 hours of arrest. Free flow of information should not be curtailed on mere suspicion by police." Kyagulanyi added.

The women also demanded government to publically announce all the detention centers where the Kasese clash suspects are being held.

"As we speak, we do not know where the suspects are   being held. We suspect their lives are in danger. Unconfirmed reports suggest that some of them are held in unknown police dungeons like Nalufenya in Jinja, Masaka and Mbarara municipalities," Kiiza said.

Kiiza who also doubles as the Kasese woman MP asserted that if the government fails to produce suspects in courts of law for a fair hearing, they are going to mobilize people and start the search in all the police stations in the country demanding for their release from the cells.

More than 100 people, including Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere have been arrested and detained in different police stations in the region.

The clashes that broke out between government forces and the Rwenzururu royal guards claimed lives of over 100 people, including 16 Police officers.

During the operation, the Rwenzururu palace was raided and the king, Charles Wesley Mumbere, arrested and currently remains detained at Nalufenya Police Station in Jinja.
