Minister Kasaija woos UAE investors

Kasaija said sectors need investors to develop them as well as creating jobs for the existing unemployed country's population.

The minister for finance, Matia Kasaija, has tipped the United Arab Emirates investors about Uganda's investment opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, energy, and tourism among others hence called them to come and invest in them.

This was during the East Africa trade mission conference organized by Uganda Investment Authority in Kampala. It was attended by UAE delegates, the UAE ambassador to Uganda H.E Abdullah Mohammed Al Takawi among other dignitaries.

Kasaija said sectors need investors to develop them as well as creating jobs for the existing unemployed country's population.

He revealed that the trade missions between Uganda and United Arab Emirates have in turn boosted the business links between them.

On taxes, Kasaija noted that the government asked UAE to send a technical team to meet Ugandan government on tax related issues.

The minister also appealed to Ugandans to use the existing resources like fertile soils, minerals, tourism features to eradicate poverty in their communities.

 "UAE is dry but people have earned much from agriculture that they only do using irrigation," he stated.

The chairperson Uganda Investment Authority, Tobias Karekaho, said Uganda's cooperation with developed countries like UAE is crucial arguing the cooperation in turn boosts the business sector in Uganda.
