Kampala University turn focus to East Africa University Games

Kampala University vice chancellor Prof. Badru Kateregga has urged the university football team players to ensure each of them leaves a legacy for the institution as they prepare for the 2016 East Africa University Games in Kenya next month.

Kampala University was celebrating their recent victory against Nkumba University in the Nile Special University Football League finals.

Last Saturday at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole Kampala University came from a goal down to beat Nkumba 3-2 in extra-time and win their second trophy in the competition since 2013.

"Our opponents (Nkumba University) were very good but we were so tactical with diverse talent. Victory is part of our custom. We are here to win until the end. But you must be doing something for which people will be clapping for you," Prof. Kateregga said while he chanted their motto: "Kampala University, Here to Stay".

KU is preparing for the East Africa University Games and team coach Vincent Tumusiime said that the Saturday victory was very inspirational for them to regain the regional trophy that his team  won in 2013.

It was the same year KU also won their first Nile Special University Football League title.

This year's East Africa University Games will be held at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in Nairobi with over 20 institutions expected at the competitions.
