Uganda to mark Africa Industrialization Day

It's a day when government focuses on business and technology.

Uganda will next week join the rest of Africa to celebrate Africa Industrialization Day.

The trade and cooperatives minister, Amelia Kyambadde, on Thursday told media that it's the day when government focuses on business and technology in the previous times.

"It is a time when governments and other organizations in Africa examine ways to stimulate Africa's industrialization process," she said.

She added that it is also an occasion to draw worldwide media attention to the problems and challenges of industrialization in Africa.

The day will be held on 24th in Kampala under the theme ‘financing industrialization in Africa, challenges and ways for development.'

Various events will be held to mark Africa Industrialization Day:

  • Matching from UMA to Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI)
  • An exhibition to show case Uganda's industrial sector
  • A symposium to discuss and exchange ideas on financing industries in Uganda and challenges
  • Celebration ten years of UIRI and 50 years of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO)
