SC Villa bounced back from the crushing 3-1 loss to KCCA two weeks ago by putting five past Bright Stars in a pulsating Uganda Premier League encounter at Namboole Stadium.

The Jogoos who came from a goal down to register their seventh win of the season continued to mount pressure on table leaders KCCA.

Fred Segujja gave Bright Stars the lead before Patrick Mbowa equalized for the record league champions.

Martin Kizza, Alex Kitata, Taddeo Lwanga and Abel Eturudde then scored without to give the home side a comfortable 5-1 lead.

Martin Kivumbi and Joshua Kawadwa then scored late for Bright Stars to make the final moments of the match awkward for Villa as it ended 5-3.

The win put SC Villa on 24 points, four behind KCCA who were not in action.

Bright Stars went into the match without head coach Fred Kajoba who lost he lost his father. His assistant Paul Kiwanuka took the reins in what turned out to be a result to forget.

Elsewhere, surprise package Onduparaka continued to pile misery on visitors to the Green Light Stadium in Arua.

The newly promoted West Nile side defeated Vipers 1-0 to register their fourth win at home.

Skipper Muhammad Shaban celebrated his debut for the Uganda Cranes by scoring the only goal of the match and by that extended his tally to seven goals for the season.

Vipers became Onduparaka's third big scalp of the season after defending champions KCCA and SC Villa both tasted defeat in Arua, 2-1 and 4-3 respectively.

Police is the other side that lost at the Green Light Stadium while while Proline, Soana and JMC Hippos managed to escape with a point.

The victory was also sweet revenge for the 3-1 loss at the hands of Vipers in the Uganda Cup final in June.
