Mbale Progressive and Mbogo High Schools are the ones to watch

Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) president Douglas Kayondo has attributed the poor performance of Kampala schools in the sport due lack of facilities and focus on sports.

Kayondo made the remarks on Thursday afternoon after receiving trophies from National Council of Sports (NCS) for the Hoima Open tournament.

NCS senior administrative secretary Ivan Mugowa handed over the trophies.

"Kampala schools perform badly in many of these competitions because these schools focus much on academics and neglect sports and also they lack facilities" Kayondo stated.

The event due Saturday and Sunday in Hoima will attract schools from various parts of the country.

Mbale schools have always given urban schools a run for their money winning all the trophies at stake they hope to continue like that come this weekend.

Mbale Progressive and Mbogo High Schools are the ones to watch in the tournament.
