Jordan signs pact with Uganda on export of labour

Mukwaya said that Jordan government will only deal with agencies, which fall under the Uganda Recruitment Association. She said that this partnership will create more job opportunities for Uganda.

The Government of Uganda has signed a partnership with the government of Jordan to allow recruiting agencies to export labour.

The Minister of Gender Labour and Social development Janat Mukwaya signed the agreement at ministry headquarters in Kampala. The President of the Recruiting Agents Association of Jordan Khaled Al Husainat presented the documents to the Minister of Jordan.

Mukwaya said that Jordan government will only deal with agencies, which fall under the Uganda Recruitment Association. She said that this partnership will create more job opportunities for Uganda.

Mukwaya said that she was not ready to comment on the issue regarding the ban that put up by government on the recruitment in the Middle East countries. She said she will present views after completing the investigation. She added that currently Uganda has 51 registered agencies in the last 10 years.

 The Ambassador Rashid Ssemuddu who oversees the Middle East countries said that the Labour laws in Jordan are well designed to keep our people safe. Ssemuddu said he does not expect our Uganda girls to be mistreated like it was reported in the media. He added that there exist more opportunities for Uganda especially those with professional skills.

The President of the recruiting association of Jordan Khald Al Husainat said that their country has favourable working conditional in the ministry of Labour.
