Bukedea demands for war compensation

Olemukan noted that many lives were lost and property destroyed during the liberation war in Kachumbala Sub County which turned to be a battle field.

Bukedea district Chairperson, Moses Olemukan has reiterated need for government to compensate over 80 people affected by the 1987 NRA liberation war.

Olemukan noted that many lives were lost and property destroyed during the liberation war in Kachumbala Sub County which turned to be a battle field.

According to him, the affected people are requesting the government to compensate them with iron sheets, and money among others.

He said the president has in several occasions pledged to compensate this affected people but it has not been fulfilled.

"Am happy that the president received our cry of compensation but am reminding the office of the Teso affairs state minister to follow it up," Olemukan said.

Addressing leaders during the familiarization meeting held at Akello Hotel last week, the Teso Affairs State Minister, Agnes Akiror Egunyu urged district leaders to integrate the presidential pledges in their plans and budgets.
