Over the recent years, Uganda has contained illegal sale of fuel in the informal market as well as fuel adulteration through progressive implementation of a fuel marking system. The system objectives are to:

i) Greatly minimize or eliminate smuggling and/or dumping of transit petroleum products onto the domestic market.

ii) Control adulteration of petrol or diesel with lower taxed solvents and/or diluents.
