"Leadership comes at a cost, but to come out victorious, you have to be hardworking, be exemplary to your fellow students and balance your new responsibilities with books. That way, you will shine in both academics and leadership," said Ssemwogerere, a professor at the Makerere University College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology.

Daphne Kato, the principal of the school said the prefects' elections attracted over 300 candidates with the most competitive posts being the head boy, head girl, deputy head girl and deputy head boy. All these posts attracted over 30 contestants each.

One of the highlights of the elections was the voting of Ben Mugasha as the head boy and his younger brother Bryan Mugasha as his deputy. Apio Laura was voted as the head girl, Shanice Katangaza the deputy head girl and Sanyu Jacmine as the prime prefect.

Ben Mugasha promised to continue from where his predecessor stopped by working for the interests of the students. "My plan is to work with the school administration to improve the pupils discipline as well as fighting for their interests," Mugasha said.

The head girl, Laura Apio said she will promote mutual respect between younger and older pupils with the cooperation of both the pupils and administration.

The outgoing prefects were awarded with various gifts and a certificate of excellence each.
