Rukunya clinches Kabira Squash Open title

Rukunya's victory over Paul Kadoma which came with sh500,000 was the second in a space of one month and followed the Nakuru Open which he won last month.

Ian Rukunya registered a morale boosting win when he captured the Kabira Squash Open over the weekend, ahead of his intended travel to Nairobi to compete in the Parklands Open.

"This victory has helped build confidence for the upcoming Parkland Open that's due on the November 21-26. Two wins in a row, the feeling is awesome," Rukunya stated.

En-route to winning the Kabira tournament, Rukunya beat 14-year old Egyptian Ahmed Hazem 3-0 in the quarter finals, Tausif Khan 3-0 in the semis before clinching the championship with a 3-2 win over Paul Kadoma.

On his part Kadoma had beaten Rizwan Khan 3-0 and Leon Keya 3-1 in the quarter and semifinals respectively.

In the amateur open category, Rizwan Khan beat Tausif Khan 3-1 to emerge winner while Salim Khan won the plate event.
