Youth’s engagement in productive activities as the only solution to curb idleness

Church leaders in Katakwi district have been urged to help in the fight against drug abuse among youth.

The call was made by John Robert Angiro the Archdeacon of Usuk following the increased cases of domestic violence registered at Katakwi Central Police Station which are blamed on the youth's habit of drug abuse.

Speaking to New Vision, Angiro cited the youth's engagement in productive activities as the only solution to curb idleness which is the leading cause of drug abuse and domestic violence.

Angiro was optimistic that when church leaders, an army of God work together with Police, the crime rate will be reduced.

In his response, Robert Elungat, the deputy OC CID Katakwi CPS confirmed that cases of domestic violence are on the rise in Katakwi.

According to him, they have registered over 30 cases of domestic violence among the youth between the month of September and October.
