Kumi yet to receive women empowerment program funds

The Kumi LCV chairperson Christine Apolot has revealed that the district has not yet received money under Uganda Women Empowerment Program.

This follows concerns by women over delay by the district to channel the money to their groups.

The Uganda Women Empowerment Program is a government initiative aimed at supporting women to access funding to initiate viable income generating projects.

Under the project, women can access to the tune of sh12.5m to initiative income generating activities of their choices.

Apolot told New Vision that the district only received indicative planning figures showing how much money the district will receive under the program.

She appealed to women in the district to mobilize themselves in groups of 10 women in order to access the funding.
