United Nations endorses Nnabagereka's Kisaakate

The United Nations has endorsed Buganda's Ekisaakate (Royal Enclosure), an annual camp that was started by the queen of Buganda, Sylvia Nagginda in 2007 through Nnabagereka Development Foundation. The camp is intended to teach children in their cultural values and norms.

The United Nations Resident Commissioner to Uganda Rosa Malango announced the endorsement during the launch of the 2017 Ekisaakate at Bulange Gardens, due to take place from January 2nd to 15th at St. Jonan Luwum S.S.S. Bombo.

Malango said that UN will support Ekisaakate through its agencies such as UNESCO, UNFPA and UNICEF among others.

The Katikkiro of Buganda, in his message read by the Speaker of Buganda Lukiiko Nelson Kawalya noted that Nnabagereka has done a tremendous job in molding the youth especially the Girl child.

"The kingdom will continue supporting Ekisaakate and Nnabagereka Development Foundation in general," the speaker said.

During the Ceremony, Mike Kironde, the Director of St. Jonan SSS Bombo was handed a drum as an instrument of power to host the 2017 Kisaakate.

The ceremony was attended by the Nnabagereka, Prince David Wasajja and Mengo cabinet ministers among others.
