A total of 34 coaches will be certified after a coaching clinic

Uganda's Baseball and Softball story is all but a serialization of how the sport is steadily picking up in the country.

Among the latest developments, for the first, Uganda will have Baseball and Softball certified coaches by the sports' world governing body - World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC).

A total of 34 coaches will be certified after the coaching clinic that ends Thursday in the charges of two refined Italian officials from the WBSC; Adrea D'auria and Fabio Betto at the national baseball field in Gayaza.

The trainees have been engaged in among others the concept of developing players, tee work, drills, in field work, bull pen work and the general knowledge about managing the sports.

"This is a world program for mainly developing countries and Uganda is one of the first beneficiaries, with this knowledge I believe they will be able to nurture talent here and grow further the sport. Otherwise there is potential here" said Fabio Betto who is also a retired pitcher in the Italian Baseball League.

The WBSC joined with the United States Speciality Sports  Association (USSSA) to create an international program in the bid to help grow the sport in the very needy areas.

Bernard Adei George Mukhobe, John Mandela,  Dennis Kasozi, Timothy Einu, Jackson Nyanzi, Patrick Ochora, Alex Katamba, David Arago, Tonny Opio, Ibrahim Kaboggoza, John Ssempa were among the trainees.
