Man abandons wife in hospital over shs 100,000

A heartless father of two has abandoned his wife at Kumi hospital, Kumi District over malnourished child and medical bill of sh100,000.

Noah Oduut, according to the hospital authorities abandoned his wife Jane Akol, 24 a mother of two girls aged between two and five after taking her to this facility in September. Akol had brought malnurished child for treatment.

Akol, 24 who is carrying pregnancy of eight months has been surviving at the mercy of other patients, atenndants and staff.

"It is some of the medical staff and some other patients who are giving her food," said Rose Ademun, the in charge nutritional ward.

Ademun said attempts to reach Noah Oddut had been futile since he does not own a phone and the place of resident has also been far.

"Can you imagine, not even relative could come to see this patient," she told New Vision in Kumi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Akol said she doesn't blame her husband for her fate, because he is unable to provide anything.

"My husband was bewitched by his mother, for  two months he has not been himself. He talks but his words are childish, perhaps it is the reason why he could not come to see us," she said.

She is appealing to the Good Samaritan to help rescue her from the situation. "Our worry is that when she delivers, since she is about, it's going to be another challenge to the hospital," one nurse who didn't want to be quoted said.
