According to Kampala Central Police Station Officer in Charge of Traffic Justine Opus, Wampewo roundabout has become prone to accidents because it lies on the lower part of the road.

One spot in Kampala City Centre has registered about 30 accidents since the beginning of this year, 2016. The same spot, Wampewo roundabout on Jinja Road on Tuesday morning registered an accident involving a Police truck registration number UP 5630 and Fuso truck registration number UAM 932M. About 30 people sustained injuries of which 19 were Police officers.

According to Kampala Central Police Station Officer in Charge of Traffic Justine Opus, Wampewo roundabout has become prone to accidents because it lies on the lower part of the road.

"Some drivers while heading to the city fail to notice the presence of the roundabout, hence end up failing to negotiate it because of speeding," said Opus.

He said the leading cause of accidents in the country is human error, part of which can be attributed to inadequate driving skills or indiscipline.

"The Government should set up standard driving schools where people can obtain driving skills," said Opus .He also said, humps should be installed near Wampewo roundabout to reduce the speed of vehicles.
