Bududa man netted with pistol

Wakholowa’s luck ran out on Sunday morning when he brought out the pistol and allegedly threatened to shoot his brother dead over a long time family land wrangle.

The former LC 3 chairperson of Bukibokolo sub-county in Bududa district has been detained at Mbale Central Police Station after being found in possession of an illegal firearm he had allegedly owned for over twenty years.

Bududa district Police commander (DPC) Godwin Ochaki identified the suspect as Mohamad  Wakholowa, 62, a resident of Busakaya village, Bunamukye parish in Bukibokolo sub-county  who was found with a pistol and four rounds of ammunition.

The DPC told New Vision that the terrified brother reported the incident to Bududa Central Police Station and police officers conducted an immediate search of Wakholowa's home where they recovered the pistol hidden in the pit latrine and Wakholo was arrested.

Ochaki said Wakholowa who is the Bududa district Forum for Democratic Change FDC chairman and mobilizer claimed to have procured the pistol around 1989 but could not produce a firearm permit prompting the Police to effect arrest before transferring him to Mbale Central Police Station pending investigations.
