Kampala Club members have been urged to continue promoting sports because it's the engine for national unity.

Edward Mpagi made the appeal in his speech as chief guest at the closing ceremony of the Kampala Club Independence Day tournaments held on Sunday.

"I want to thank the club management for organising this event. Continue because this unites us and also promotes our health and body fitness," Mpagi stated.

Nile Breweries' Timothy Kayondo beat Kenneth Egesa 3-1 to win the squash tournament in the under 50-years of age category.

"He was not fit so I took advantage of my fitness levels that is why I emerged champion," Kayondo stated after the game.

In the other final of those above the age of 50 years, William Byaruhanga defeated John Giancarlo 3-1 to emerge the champion.
