UAP compesates UGC for golf ball smashed TV

When one of the Ugandan golfers miscued his shot from the 18th -hole bunker at the Uganda Golf Club last month he didn't know what damage it would cause.

Not so many golf accidents have occurred in Uganda but a few cases have been reported on the different courses.

Most of them have not been fatal but in countries like the UK, more claims for golf ball accidents have been filed every year. Golfers and golf courses are becoming more conscious of their actions and the status of their insurances. Approximately 12,000 golf related injuries are filed each year and 3,530 of these injuries are on the head.

The liability often falls on the golf course since only 10 percent of golfers have golf injuries covered in their home insurances, but the latter has learned to acquire insurances too, just in case.

When one of the Ugandan golfers miscued his shot from the 18th -hole bunker at the Uganda Golf Club last month he didn't know what damage it would cause.

After hitting it, it bounced off to the opposite direction towards the nearby club house smashing their 38 inch TV that golfers watch from the balcony.

What a loss that would have been. But thanks to insurance the club was able to have their TV replaced with a sh55m 84 inch screen by UAP Old Mutual Insurance Company.

UAP Sales Manager Benson Katema handed over the new screen to the Uganda Golf Club captain Anthony Kerali last week.

Thank God the ball didn't hurt anyone, otherwise more irreplaceable damage could have been caused serious injury or even death to someone.
