Gitta was brought in to coach after FUFA forced Express to employ tacticians with proper qualifications

Six-time league champions Express FC have sacked head coach Alex Gitta.

After a heated meeting at Wankulukuku concluded at 11pm on Tuesday, the club leadership chaired by club chairman, Nakiwala Kiyingi, dismissed Gitta.

The lawyer turned football tactician was accused of failure to work with his assistant and fan favourite Wasswa Bbosa.

A club historical, who attended the two-day meeting and spoke on condition of anonymity, expressed his shock at the turn of events.

"We are not going anywhere. We have tried to let the young people work for the club and possibly go corporate but they are failing us. We are still stuck in the Bbosa syndrome. Many of us appear to trust him so much that we have forgotten about his shortcomings" he said.

Efforts to reach Express FC chairperson Nakiwala were fruitless as her known contact numbers were off but the source revealed that Gitta plans to sue Express and seeking compensation for his two year contract signed last season.

Top Express officials quizzed Gitta and Bbosa after the club lost to KCCA and BUL FC and drew before drawing against Jinja Kirinya SS with coaches confessing that the problem was disagreement in squad selection for the matches.

Gitta was brought in to coach after FUFA forced Express like any other Uganda Premier League side to employ tacticians of higher qualification than Bbosa's CAF C license.
