About 700 illegal foreigners have been deported to their respective countries in the last seven months for lack of valid documents which allows them to stay or carryout any business in Uganda.

The deportees of different nationalities included Chinese, Pakistanis, Indians, and Indonesians, among others who were arrested in different parts of Uganda including Kampala and other remote areas while running petty businesses.

The head of the inspection and investigation department in the Ministry of Internal Affairs Simon Mundeyi said currently they have been boosted with more staff totalling 300 and they are now going to carryout operations in the districts of Northern Uganda against illegal foreigners.

"We are embarking on a tour of the Northern region because these foreigners are everywhere in the country" Mundeyi said.
