Odonga Otto's father dies

The father of the Aruu MP, Odonga Otto has died. James Otto,72, succumbed to a long kidney complication.

He breathed his last at about 5:20am from Kirudu general referral hospital in Kampala, according to the bereaved family.

When contacted, Odonga Otto said he could not speak during the trying moment. He said he would speak to the media later.

One of Otto's eight sons, Tadeo Oloya Otto, said his father born August 25, 1945 was a strong a man of courage, brave, frank, and a loving dad to all his children.

 "My dad was God fearing and a true Seminarian. He was an educationist as well as human rights activist," Oloya said.

Fondly known by many "Otto Foods" because of his past long service and contributions with the then Uganda Foods and Beverages in Gulu municipality, Otto also served for many years as a Human Rights Defender with HURIFO, a civil society organization based in Gulu. He retired a few years ago.

Otto's widow, Angioletta Ogweta, described her departed husband as a loving and caring man.

Oloya said the tentative burial arrangement had not yet been drawn and was awaiting a joint family meeting.
