Amuria couple burnt inside house

A 50-year old woman has died and her husband seriously injured after unknown people set ablaze their grass thatched house in Akarukei village, Acowa Sub County in Amuria district.

Grace Inyangat and her husband Eugenio Oosa, 70, sustained serious burns after unidentified people set their house ablaze on Sunday night.
 
The incident happened after they returned from a drinking joint.
 
Norah Apolot, the Officer in-charge Acowa police post said the duo was first admitted to Acowa Health Centre III and later referred to Amuria Health Centre III, where Inyangat died on Monday night.

Christine Ingecer, a sister to Oosa said her brother left his two wives; Joyce Ariko and Rose Akwii a year ago.
 
"Oosa left the two wives with his 25 children helpless at their home in Alere village, Angerepo parish in Acowa Sub County and went to cohabit with Inyangat at Akarukei village," Ingecer told New Vision on Monday.

Although the police have not yet established the cause of the fire, Ingecer suspects Inyangat's relatives to be behind it.
 
According to Ingecer, the act of her brother has brought shame to their family.
 
Amuge Jenifer, one of the daughters to the Oosa said their father has left them suffering without any assistance.

The officer in-charge Criminal Investigations Department Amuria, Joseph Ocom said they are yet investigating the case.

He however attributed the incident to issues of domestic violence and failure by couples to know the meaning of marriage.
 
Ocom advised the couples to avoid extra marital affairs because it's leading to the increasing cases of murders among others.
