Humanitarian services are in the goals of Lion’s Club International

Hundreds of Kisoro communities on Saturday received free dental services, HIV testing and counselling services during the medical camp that was organised by Kisoro born-again faith in conjunction with Lion's Club of Kisoro.

The one-day camp took place at Mubano Hotel in Kisoro Municipality.

The camp was also graced by practitioners from Medical and Dental Missioners Africa led by Earnest Mwebesa.

The Kisoro Lion's Club president Trevor Mugenga noted that such humanitarian services are in the goals of Lion's Club International. He urged the public to always embrace such camps so that they can get rid of some diseases in addition to getting medical advice.

"These camps come once in a while, you should turn up in big numbers to receive treatment," said Mugenga.

The Kisoro Municipality MP, Sam Byibesho, commended born-again Christian churches for providing free medical services to the people.

"It's always the wish of the Government for churches to help the under privileged in addition to spiritual food, they have continued to mobilise communities in different programmes," said Byibesho.

Byibesho asked born-again churches to extend such services deeper in rural areas, arguing some people fail to raise money for medical bills. He also asked other churches in Kisoro to imitate born-again faith and also introduce more projects to help communities," said Byibesho.

"These services should be extended to villages so that people can live free from diseases," said Byibesho.

Bishop Deo Ziragoza Tumukunde, noted that born-again churches aim at improving lives of communities through evangelism and other social programs like education and health. He also said that the born again churches help in poverty alleviation programmes.
