Despite loosing 4-0 against their Kenyan counterparts in their opening group A fixture , Nantanda's girls went on to register a commanding 9-0 win against Zanzibar

Crested Cranes head coach Majidah Nantanda has praised the ever growing character of her new current team during the ongoing CECAFA women football tournament at FUFA's technical center in Njeru near Jinja town .

Despite loosing 4-0 against their Kenyan counterparts in their opening group A fixture , Nantanda's girls went on to register a commanding 9-0 win against Zanzibar and a test of character when they pipped rivals Burundi 1-0 to book their place in Sunday's  semifinals .

"Despite Kenyans humiliating us 4-0 in the opening fixture , the girls seem to have forgotten the loss and embarked on building their confidence in the two crucial fixtures that proved that they have character, commitment, belief and always listen to what we tell them to do. Their results are improving in every game yet it is a new team of locally based players who have never played together on the national team,"said  .

Some outstanding individuals include; Hassifah Nassuna, Fazirah Ikwaput who have both scored four goals each in the tournament alongside US based striker Lacy Otandeka [with two goals] , Christine Nambirige [got injured against Burundi].

With Ruth Aturo in goal , Crested Cranes' backline is calm enough to absorb pressure from opponents thanks to the leadership of team captain Christine Wanyana , Viola Namuddu, Gladys Nakitto and Yudaya Nakayenze.

However Crested Cranes' character will be stretched by either the short passes of Ethiopians or physically imposing Tanzanians in Sunday's semifinals infront of a capacity local crowd.
