Christians on pilgrimage in Rome

Over 60 Ugandans led by the Archbishop of Kampala, Dr Cyprian Kizito Lwanga, are in Rome, Italy and France for holy pilgrimage.

One of the pilgrims, Msgr Lawrence Ssemusu, the chaplain of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), confirmed to New Vision about the pilgrimage.

Ssemusu said the entourage consists of several priests, lay men and women from different diocese including Lugazi, Kiyinda-Mityana, Mbarara Archdiocese and Catholic communities Kampala Archdiocese.

 
The pilgrimage will last two weeks. The team will visit historical sites such as Sistine Chapel where the Pope is elected and Padre Pio shrine at San Giovanni.

The team will also visit St Peter's Basilica, St Paul, St Mary's and St John's Lateran among others.  

They will also tour the Eucharistic Miracle that happened in Lanciano, during the eighth Century A.D in the little church of St Legontian, as a divine response to a Brazilian monk's doubt about Jesus' real presence in the Eucharist.

Fr Ssemusu explained that the first visit to St Peter Square in Vatican City, is mainly to seek the Pope's audience at St Peter Square.

The Archbishop was accompanied among others by Msgr John Wynand Katende, Rev Fr. Joseph Mukasa Muwonge, Fr Barnabas Magezi, Fr Ignatius Kimboowa, and other priests from Kampala, Mbarara, Masaka, and Mityana diocese, business people including the managing director of MTK, Francis Xavier Kittaka.
