CARE International in Uganda seeks highly motivated and qualifi ed development professionals with genuine commitment to gender equality and women and girls' rights to fi ll up the position of Senior Technical Advisor - Advocacy for its Program Unit Operations supporting all the Country Offi ce Programs. The position will be based in Kampala.

Job Title: Senior Technical Advisor - Advocacy

Overall summary of position This position is intended to provide technical support to Northern Uganda Women Empowerment Program (NUWEP), and other country offi ce initiatives to ensure consistent implementation of specifi c advocacy initiatives and their alignment to the CO Program Quality, CO advocacy priorities and CI Advocacy guidelines, strengthen and provide strategic leadership to the Country Offi ce's (CO') Advocacy initiatives.

The Scope of work involves infl uencing change in attitudes of individuals, groups, institutions within policy making arena on the need to address the underlying causes of poverty, internally, foster the capacity of staff to eff ectively engage in advocacy.

This position also entails supporting the development of CARE partner's and allies' capacity to work together to raise awareness among program impact populations of poor and marginalised youth, women and girls on their abilities and existing opportunities to claim their rights and infl uence policy change, implementation and ability to hold the duty bearers to account. The advocacy advisor will maintain partnership relations to provide capacity in her/his area of expertise.
