Government should consider allocating more funds to agriculture insurance

The Member of Parliament for Mayinja County in Bududa district John Baptist Nambeshe has said the on-going circumcision festivities in the area are likely to cause food shortage in the region.

Nambeshe said that he received reports from farmers implicating Imbalu people and Kadodi dancers as having destroyed crops.

"I have so many complaints from farmers that these circumcision candidates and kKdodi dancers have ravaged gardens" Nambeshe said.

He said reports indicated that the people engaging in the festivities were not respecting other people's gardens while moving around during the Imbalu period.

Nambeshe said government should consider allocating more funds to agriculture insurance so that farmers can be able to insure their crops against such risks.
