Government risks losing its land if members of the public continue encroaching on it

Authorities in Serere district have warned residents against encroaching on any government land in the area.

Bosco Okello the district speaker noted that the rate at which some unscrupulous members of the public encroach on government-owned land is worrying.

This he said had hindered government efforts to develop institutions such as schools, health centres and churches as well as administrative units.

He advised residents to always channel their enquiries on land acquisition to relevant government agencies before erecting any building.

The speaker is worried that government risks losing its land if members of the public continue encroaching on it.

Okello further called on the ministry of land and urban development to allocate funds for attainment of land titles for government land, in order to curb further unlawful encroachment.
