“We shall continue bettering soldiers' welfare. I am glad that recruits uniform is now made in Uganda. I am glad that professionalization of the armed forces is on course. I congratulate the army leadership for this,” the President said.

The Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Gen. Yoweri Museveni, has reiterated the force’s efforts to better the welfare of soldiers.

“We shall continue bettering soldiers' welfare. I am glad that recruits uniform is now made in Uganda. I am glad that professionalization of the armed forces is on course. I congratulate the army leadership for this,” the President said.

He congratulated the 2,941 soldiers who graduated from Kaweweta Military College and called upon them to avoid risky lifestyles that compromise their health.

“We're getting out of the slumber that has kept Africa backward; importing everything. Government institutions will have to buy home-made products,” he noted.

Museveni said the professionalization of the armed forces is on course noting that the least educated had S4 papers, making training easier which helps army replenish with young, healthy soldiers.
