Competitions manager Anthony Tumwesigye said that the move was aimed at streamlining operations

Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) left Real Galacticals and Stomers BSC cursing as the National Beach Soccer League rolled off at Sports Beach, Entebbe on Sunday.

Galacticals BSC who arrived about 30minutes late for their fixture that was slated for 3:00pm and Stomers who were supposed to play the season's first league match at 11:00am were forced to forfeit three points and three goals to St Lawrence and KIU respectively.

UBSA competitions manager Anthony Tumwesigye said that the move was aimed at streamlining operations of the competition in line with rules of the league.

"We don't want to continue ignoring our own rules even this season. For us to run the competitions smoothly, every stakeholder should follow the rules and so this (walkover) is a signal to every team participating in the league," Tumwesigye said.

Although disappointed Real Galacticals players could not talk over the decision, they were seen resorting to playing volleyball on the sands.

Defending champions Nkumba Select, YMCA and Kayunga TC BSC had comfortable wins on the day while Kabalagala Rangers battled to a 8-7 victory over newcomers MS Sand Lions.
