Enhancing Agricultural Production for Job Creation
The mandate of the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is to promote and oversee the entire coffee industry through supporting research, propagation of clean planting materials, quality assurance, value addition and improved marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to the producers.
The key issues that UCDA’s interventions addressed in the FY 2015/16 are embedded in the Corporate Plan (CP) which was developed to operationalize the Uganda National Coffee Strategy (UNCS) which forms part of the coffee interventions highlighted in the Agriculture Sector Strategic Plan (ASSP). The interventions pursued were presented in the Ministerial Policy Statement and the Budget Framework Paper for FY 2015/16 which focused on the following key strategic pillars of the Corporate Plan:
• Production and Productivity
• Quality and Value Addition
• Market Research and Development
• Domestic Consumption
