Alex Bangirana collected 120 points to emerge winner of the inaugural Stephen Musisi Memorial Squash Tournament played at Kampala Club on Saturday.

Bangirana beat four opponents en-route to winning the one-day 15-minute time games format of play tournament that attracted six players.

The former seed two beat Stephen Magero, Abdeel Kyezira, Mulungi Seruwu and Edith Wamalwa to win what is set to become an annual tournament; according to Kampala Club squash captain Stephen Magembe.

The one-day tournament was played in memory of former Uganda Squash Rackets Association chairman and ardent squash player Stephen Musisi who passed on a year ago.

Meanwhile the wife of the late, Peace Musisi and other family members have organised a memorial service for the late on August 28 at All Saints Cathedral.

Elsewhere, Uganda's seed-one Michael Kawooya is set to travel to the US to participate in a David Palmer Squash training program at the David Palmer Squash Academy in Orlando, September 27-October 15.

This will be Kawooya's fourth international training program, having earlier attended similar courses in South Africa, Denmark and India. Kawooya will travel on September 24, pending acquisition of a US Visa.

Kawooya has twice represented Uganda at the Commonwealth Games and several regional and international squash events and remains Uganda's seed one to-date.
