Ndejje v UPDF (Wednesday, Ndejje University)

The National Handball League threw off on Sunday with defending champions Prisons Spears whipping their junior side Prisons Arrows 51-29, sending a strong signal to their opponents that they are out to defend the title they won last year.

In the other games played Police Metro saw off Police Kifaru 35-25 in a tightly contested game at Namboole Stadium.

New entrants Makerere University didn't show up and Kyengeza was awarded a 10-0 walkover because the university side did not communicate that it would not honour fixtures.

"We started off well with Prisons teams and Police teams honouring their fixtures and only one game was awarded a walkover because Makerere didn't turn up and did not communicate to us," competitions chief Fred Barenzi said after the games on Sunday.

Barenzi explained that the game between Ndejje and UPDF will be played on Wednesday at the same venue.
