Five injured in Mityana accident

Five people were seriously injured in an accident that paralyzed transport on the Mityana to Kampala highway on Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at Ndibulungi village, which is about five kilometres on the Mityan -Kampala highway.

In this accident, a fast running taxi registration number UAX 050G heading to Mubende knocked a Fuso Lorry registration number UAA  173K that was parked on the road side.

 
Ndibulungi is one of the dangerous spots along the Mityana-Kampala highway, where accidents usually occur.

The wrecked taxi fell in the middle of the road, paralyzing transport for many hours. Police used the breakdown truck to tow it away.

The taxi was carrying five people but fully loaded with merchandise, which were suspected to be drugs being carried to Mubende.

 
Four of the victims, traveling in the taxi were rushed in Mityana hospital in critical conditions. Although he had been injured, the driver of the taxi ran away.

In Mityana hospital, one of the victims was immediately refereed to Mulago as his conditions worsened.

Some of the residents living at Ndibulungi that witnessed the accident blamed the driver of the taxi for driving recklessly.
