The High Court Judge Atwoki Rugadya confirmed Charles Musoke Serunjogi as the elected Central Division Mayor.

Justice Rugadya dismissed the petition which was filed by Muhammed Semata Kibedi Nsegumire to challenge Serunjogi's victory.

Nsegumire's petition, in which he had accused Serunjogi of conniving with the Kampala district returning officer Charles Ntege to falsify the results of the elections, was dismissed Thursday for lack of concrete evidence.

Nsengumire refused to consent to Serunjogi's victory in the recently held Local Council election and went to the High Court to challenge it. He requested to be declared winner.

He had stated that the results from 11polling stations which include St.Balikudembe, Namalwa, Kibwa Church, Management Institute, Old Catholic Church and Hoima road flats were inflated by Ntege who chased him and his agents from the tally centre at UMA grounds on the night they announced the results.

The judge stated that he had observed that some entries of the results in tally sheets had been forged and ordered Police to arrest and prosecute any persons who might have committed the forgeries that made Nsegumire believe that he had won the said election.

Nsegumire announced that he is going to appeal against the judgment.
