Two suspects are currently detained at Kirra road police station on charges of illegal trading of Ivory. Laban Muhindo the public relations officer Natural Resource Conservation Network identified the suspects Swaibu Agele 59, and Ephraim Kator who also calls himself Abraham.

 

 

"One Swaibu Agele is a notorious ivory trafficker who was arrested in Kampala after police's interrogation, he led us to his accomplice Ephraim Kator who was arrested from Amudat district," Muhindo said.

 

According to Muhindo the arrest was effected after a three month investigation were police coned them to be buyers leading them into a trap to transact the ivory, he added that police found Agele in Kamwokya a Kampala suburb to deliver eight pieces of mature elephant ivory.

 

The suspects are said to have confessed being in the business for many years and also acting as middle men for a group of Pokot warriors in Kenyan.
